Ex Real Madrid and Manchester United Midwayer David Beckham claims that Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi are Head and Shoulders beyond the rest in terms of who is the most successful player, but noted that the Juventus forward is "not at the same stage" as the Barcelona midfielder.

 Speaking to the Argentinian broadcaster Télam Beckham, who met Messi in the Champions League during his PSG spell in 2012-13, said, Messi is special as a athlete, and there is no one else like him. He and Cristiano, who are not on the same stage as Messi, are head and shoulders above the rest.

Recalling his meeting with the Argentine captain, Beckham added: We were leading when he came on and Barcelona scored. Given my age, I loved participating and the team performed well in both games. We achieved something we should be proud of. They didn't defeat us. Both games resulted in a tie – 2-2 in the Parc des Princes and 1-1 in the Camp Nou – with Barça winning on the away goals only to be defeated 7-0 on the road.
