Former Manchester United star Patrice Evra has recalled that a Liverpool supporter who was in prison threatened to kill him. Forward Luis Suarez made racist remarks about him during the 2011 game between United and Liverpool.

In the same incident, the Football Association had banned Suarez for eight games after he was found guilty of swearing. In that game in October 2011, Suarez made racist remarks. The former United left-back has recalled that he had to keep a security guard due to the threats from Liverpool supporters. A supporter of the Liverpool fan who was in jail had threatened to kill him and his family.

The warning letter came from Manchester United to me. It was reported to be a Liverpool fan and to be in prison. They tried to kill me and my family any time they left.
He said, The security guards stayed with me for two months. They used to be together wherever I went. They slept in front of my house. They would follow me wherever I went. That was a difficult time.
