A Spanish court has sentenced Spanish and Spanish club Atletico Madrid forward Diego Costa to six months in prison and fined him 482,000 Pound after he was found guilty of tax evasion.

Despite being found guilty of tax evasion, he will not have to go to jail if he does not commit a violent crime under Spanish law and has been sentenced to less than two years in prison. Costa has agreed to pay an additional 32,000. Costa arrived at the court on Thursday wearing a face mask.
Earlier in Spain, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and former Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho were accused of tax evasion. He also did not have to pay extra fees after being found guilty of tax evasion.
Costa returned to Atletico Madrid in 2017. He led Chelsea to two Premier League titles. Costa has played only 19 games for Atletico this season due to injury. In which he has scored only 2 goals.
He is now back in training at Atletico Madrid. The rest of the season of Spanish La Liga, which has been postponed due to the Corona epidemic, will start on June 11. Atletico is scheduled to play Athletic Bilbao on June 14. Atleti is in sixth place with 45 points.
