Cristiano ronaldo left the door open for Real Madrid

Cristiano Ronaldo will "set the door open" for a possible return to Real Madrid, according to Portugal's forward team-mate Jose Fonte.

Leaks in Italy indicated that Juventus would be able to let Ronaldo back to Madrid for as little while £ 50 m while they sought to relieve the financial pressure on the club created by the coronavirus pandemic.

Ronaldo spent nine years in the Spanish capital, leading Madrid to win four Champions League crowns and two La Liga titles, as well as being the club's all-time highest scorer with 450 goals.

"I think he loves Madrid, that's for sure," said Fonte, who, along with Ronaldo, helped Portugal win the Euro 2016.

"The club itself is definitely his favorite club, it's one of the biggest, if not the largest, clubs in the world.

"He's left many, many mates there, so he's always left the door open, and I wouldn't be shocked if he's moving back to Real Madrid." Ronaldo, a five-time Balloon d'Or winner, joined Juventus in the summer of 2018 for a fee of £ 100 m and has scored 53 goals in 75 matches.

During his debut campaign in Turin, he helped Juventus win their eighth consecutive Series A title.

Prior to the suspension of Series A due to the coronavirus pandemic, Juventus stood at the top of the table a point ahead of Lazio's closest rivals.
